The Gunboat brand was acquired by Grand Large Yachting in 2016. The innovative 68 series was conceptualized, designed and built by Gunboat in just two and a half years – with a 16 month build time for # 1 Condor from the first carbon laid in September 2017 and her splash on January 2019. Just over 6 months later, # 2 Dash was launched from the factory.
Gunboat 6802 DASH rolled out of the factory last July and was splashed and rigged the next day. She underwent commissioning and sea trials over the course of the following month before handover to the owners.
The first boat contains owner-selected high performance options like a bigger rig (high modulus by Lorima), a larger sail plan (with North 3di sails) and a rotating rig. Whereas, the second boat elected a luxury cruising setup.
Facnor was the brand selected to supply all furlers on both boats: Solent structural furler, Trinquette structural furler, and two FX+ furlers for the A3 and Code 0. The new reefing locks were also chosen for the mainsail.
The Gunboat team in La grande Motte, France, is relatively small but very dedicated and passionate towards the Gunboat community. They engineer the vision of ultra-comfortable, high-performance catamaran sailing, designed for global blue-water sailing. The Gunboats are highly capable in any setting where you will enjoy her with family and friends.
The first two Gunboat 68s will make their public debut simultaneously this month – with # 2 at the Cannes Yachting Festival and # 1 at the Newport International Boat Show.
