After 14 months of intense construction at the Noosaville factory, Tony Longhurst’s new baby was released to the public last month… The Schionning 65 design catamaran is the sistership of the previous Kato. Weight savings being paramount for this project, a full carbon foils Facnor furler was chosen by the owner and the builder…
The fully customised sleek carbon fibre catamaran chose Facnor for the security of knowing that the products had been tried and tested on the most advanced ocean racers…“The carbon foils obviously represented a weight saving but it was also easy to fit” said Julian Griffith, boat builder and General Manager at Noosa Marine. Indeed, the 4m long sections are assembled with Epoxy adhesives for better torque resistance, no need to use screws. The twin groove sections fitted perfectly on the EC6 textile forestay chosen for the job.
For the Code zero a 12.0 FX+ furler was chosen to handle the 3Di 130m2 sail. The light carbon housing looks amazing with the rest of the carbon on the boat.
Wichard Pacific is very proud to be part of this Australian built project, we wish Kato II “Bons vents”.
